muzan kibutsuji

Appearance

appearances mean little to him, for he shifts based upon little more than need at the present time, his appearances all serving a purpose--to gain information, to slip past unbothered, to force his will with minimal disturbance.generally, he's noted for being pale and possessing red eyes. In all forms, hair is black and subtly wavy--appearing a tad thin still. he isn't very tall in any form either--still standing at a thoroughly average height. though demonhood has granted him some degree of being muscular, it is still lean--on the whole, there is still an air of remaining sickly.he both hates this, and uses it to his advantage when disguising himself. when among demons, however, such things completely fall away--showcasing his cruelty and lack of care towards them.

Personality

the first impression many gather from him is one of disinterest--expression neutral, if he bothers to glance towards whoever speaks to him, and voice barely giving inflection. he states what is needed, and prefers to be left to his own devices as he continues his research.it's mostly because he views all others as nothing more than disposable tools, all fools whose only purpose is to fulfill the orders he gives and suitable to do away with if they fail in this. though he states he has spoiled the upper moons, he still cares little for them--their deaths in the manga met with nothing more than condemning them for failing him.when displeased--even something as little as being corrected or questioned--he's prone to dealing out brutal punishment whether it's dismemberment or outright killing. in many instances, the times he shows the most clear expression is his anger.his narcissism and sense of superiority pass the point of delusional, perhaps a result of his pursuit of perfection, and seeing himself as the closest being to perfect. his malice is such that others are able to make note of and comment upon it.and yet, at the root of it all, he is a coward.he tries to avoid conflict himself, he tries to flee and run at any opportunity. some degree of his sheer cruelty towards own followers seems to stem from his drive to preserve himself--and once he feels threat to his life, megalomania falls apart as he reacts on fear.in the end, desperate drive for survival has completely buried anything vulnerable or humane within him, little more than a withered husk left buried and forgotten.

Verses

MAIN VERSEthe first demon, centuries spent seeking to conquer the sun and searching for a specific flower to perfect the medicine used to turn him--a gamble, but one he's willing to take by any means he deems necessary.REVERSE AUin which the roles are reversed: not the king of demons but instead the head of the corps, righting the wrongs of a distant relative for the gods deemed it so, and if he doesn't succeed, the curse will continue to follow him.

nezuko kamado

* base icons by @crowned-rp-help and border by @spaceds!

Appearance

due to her youth, Nezuko is noticeably shorter than many other characters, and likewise has a very petite frame. her skin is pale, and much of her hair is black--though after becoming demon, it gains an orange tone at the ends. likewise, where her eyes were once only a lighter shade than her brother's, they've now become pink in demonhood. unlike many demons, her eyes still retain a very human appearance.in fact, much of her manner in general seems very human-like, albeit a tad dreamy and not fully there.

Personality

note that my nezuko isn't fully canon compliant! the main difference is in the way that my nezuko is capable of speech earlier in the series, and other adjustments made to allow her a degree of autonomy that she wasn't granted in the series proper--rather than merely existing as a foil for other characters in much of it.though capable of speaking, it isn't full and proper--she tends to mince her words still, only verbalizing key points or her grammar not being perfect. likewise, there are still times she displays selective mutism, most notably in situations that cause her stress.in many ways, her behavior carries a dream-like quality, as if she isn't fully aware of a situation at hand: to nezuko, it's as if she is living in a dream, as if she's caught within a bubble and the world beyond it were still dull and distant.this is due to her not being fully conscious as a demon, her mind focusing on overcoming the sun, breaking the curse of Muzan, and not needing to devour humans nor their blood--however, parts of her personality as a human still shine through. through the haze, she's caring and kind.like many demons, she doesn't fully recall her human life--only memories of her family, her parents and siblings, and in many cases she sees others as those family members, but it adds into making her protective of humans. though capable of laughter or tears, she most often prefers to simply be near her brother and friends.or sleeping.though never displaying a willingness to attack or harm humans, she still wears the bamboo muzzle when in crowds or among slayers not familiar with her--not to stop her from attacking, but for their comfort instead.

Akeno Tsugikuni

Appearance

she’s not a particularly tall woman, nor particularly unusual in appearance–a petite form, skin pale and hair long and straight, as black as the night. a hime cut as bangs frame her face, wide eyes and soft features, often seen wearing the layers of robes expected of the wife of a samurai lord, of the lady of a prestigious clan. described as doll-like, a quiet presence that could be overlooked easily enough, a figure meant to look pretty with her painted lips and flowing robes. they hide the soft muscle of her body, and the weakness that grows.

Personality

she had been born into the samurai class, a clan worthy enough of surname and yet lower in standing than Tsugikuni. and like so many others of her standing, Akeno had once been trained in weaponry to defend home and castle, in martial arts and diplomacy and politics, for even while women were often barred from clan leadership save few exception, there would be little defense found for her if not from herself should worse have come to worse.at least, until arranged marriage, with a man her age yet one she hardly knew.she has not fully lost this, however–a sharp mind and sharper wit, often hidden behind gentle smile and delicate sleeve. it is she her sons inherit strong will and stubbornness, the knowledge of deserving better yet sacrifices made.fiercely protective, willing to attack husband in blind rage to protect life of child, and yet as gentle as the sunrise, a rage she herself hadn’t expected to feel and yet one that burns so fiercely as ladies in waiting must hold her back.but as long as her wishes are met, she is willing to return to diplomacy, to compromise. she is quietly talented, crafting hanafuda earrings and playing flute gently, was once capable of dance when her body did not feel so heavy.she is religious, wishing for strife to disappear, wishes that others need not suffer nor shed blood, frequently worrying over loved ones, if her children will be alright when she is no longer there to shield and watch over them.when wronged, she holds little qualm in voicing displeasure, in acting to protect those whom she cares for.to many, she is the image of Yamato nadeshiko–to those who knew her in her youth, Onna-musha.but her body grows weaker, as the years pass by. where she once had strength to hardly be held back, mere seven years and she faces difficulty walking, body leaning and off-balance as it becomes difficult to move her left side.

Tanjuro Kamado

Appearance

he's of average height, though appears even smaller due to his frail health, leaving his cheekbones showing plainly and the sharp edges of bone jutting in the corners. he regularly must rest for a time, can only push himself so far before fatigue grabs hold, and as such is often found sitting upon a futon or in the sunlight--due to his frailty, he often feels a chill. a birthmark upon his forehead, just like his father before him and his son after him, thin burgundy hair tied back into a ponytail as bangs frame his face. a presence described as being like a plant, easy to overlook and neatly out of the way, though he carries more strength and knowledge than is easily shown.

Personality

he is known to be kind, to be wise, to be quiet and forgiving. a presence that is often overlooked, one that is often dismissed–he doesn’t like to stand out and have attention upon himself. he doesn’t enjoy it, when he is forced to raise his hand for any reason–but to protect his family, he always will.there is more to him that what is initially seen.the world of demons and slaying, they were passed down from generation to generation, even if bits and pieces had been lost over the years. a way of breathing, a way to move, stories of a fire god and the creatures that prowled within the night that were neither animal nor human.words of caution and words of warning, the knowledge of beautiful blue flowers passed down with those earrings from his father, and his father, and his father.but his body grows frail, even as there is so much left to teach, so much left to see to. he has promises to keep, promises that have not been broken for generations, and he will see to it that they do not end with himself.he is smart indeed, calculating and perceptive to realize the parts left unspoken, the details left out, realizing the details that others often miss. capable of seeing the see-through world, the mark upon his forehead secretly that of a slayer, he is like the forest that one cannot see within, unknowing what is hidden by the trees and foliage.he doesn’t hide his abilities for pride but for humbleness, not wishing to be seen as anyone any different from another. he does not ask for much, simply for the safety of his family, their happiness even after he himself gone.

Sarafine

Main

This verse plays with the idea of Tolkien's legendarium being a sort of pre-history of earth as a general concept. In some writings, Tolkien stated that Arda (Middle Earth) was vaguely aligned to Europe and Asia Minor as "a version of our own world at a mythical time" and that the legendarium "isn't fully a fantasy world set apart from it".In the meantime, this means their main verse can align basically to any modern-aligned or fantasy verse, with their actual Tolkien Legendarium version as a sort of prequel. The main things this means is that they remain a maiar, possessing immortality and magic and shapeshifting and their aura. The moment they had decended upon Arda meant they would then be bound to it, in whatever happened after that moment, after the first and second and third and even fourth ages, until they no longer kept track of time in terms of ages for even they became obsolete as elves and dwarves and hobbits became so scarce, left to the age of men, the secondborn of Eru.------Appearance: Their physical form can change as easily as changing clothes and often described as such, but this is going to describe their usual or more baseline form. Sarafine is tall and not exactly slender; they're muscular and solid. Their hair is unconventionally long, and is generally a tad messy with a coarse, straw-like texture, its color more of a copper tone. Their face is accentuated by faint lines at the corners of their eyes and their lips, though they may be overlooked, but serve to leave them looking worn at the edges. Their skin color is more of a bronze, contrasted against their gray and amber eyes--eyes which are quite striking on their own. Their ears are pierced, and they're always seen with a necklace and several rings. There's a few moles and freckles scattered about. They often have a small smile on their face, giving an air of laid-back hospitality, as long as they don't smile enough one can see their odd and sharp teeth. It's also to note they most often present very androgynously.Personality: In only a couple words, Sarafine is tired, bitter, and apathetic. The last one might come as a surprise to those who don't know them well; for someone that's so driven by their own emotions, one would think it'd be easier for them to actually feel something instead of being so aloof. There is a sense of boredom about Sarafine now, after seeing so much so many times over, and yet a maiar can never return to the Timeless Halls and Valinor were still unappealing for it meant returning to Manwe--and Yvanna. Perhaps it were pride, the darkening in their spirit, but humans also were so clever and ingenious, picking apart the world as they attempted to understand, and in a way they have found something endearing in it too. They're an impatient sort, and yet prone to taking their time: time is a funny construct when it never ends. Perhaps its their own creative inclinations, but they're quite analytical with an eye for details, which can leave them seeming awful judgmental or overly critical. They're composed, holding themselves to a higher standard than most others, but one wouldn't be entirely incorrect to blame that on their ambitiousness. They can be quite argumentative and temperamental, often bordering on brash, and sometimes one can reasonably wonder if they're holding others to a higher standard as well. Perhaps its thanks to their temper, but they're also generally discontent. They're a superstitious survivalist, tending to listen to instincts and gut feeling rather than logical reasoning. After all, they have served Sarafine well for so long.Despite their habit of being a loner, their introversion and their secrecy, Sarafine can actually be surprisingly sweet and playful towards those they're close to. Most people would call them good-natured or fun-loving, especially with their tendency to tease, but to those they cares for they're also perhaps surprisingly thoughtful, capable of being quite considerate and compassionate.

History (Tolkien's Legendarium)

Name: Úrintinwë, Tinuanorë, Vanwalaurë, Gwannmall, Sāweleuxs, Ŋḕrádàli; Išātuz. Sarafine.
Race: Ainu (Maia). Yavanna, later Melkor (Morgoth).
History: The name they’re called by depends upon the specific thread’s setting and time period, but for this section I’m just going to use Sāweleuxs since Westron is the lingua franca in the age most know of.Originally created by Eru ages ago in the Timeless Halls, they were one of the maiar who became confused when Melkor introduced discord into the Great Song and sang along with him. However, Sāweleuxs didn’t follow Melkor upon descending onto Arda with the valar and other maia–instead, they initially resided in Valinor as one of the people of Yavanna, specifically her Pastures to the south. Well, mostly. There were many times they ventured into Middle Earth itself, drawn to the changing forests and shadows–in the Undying Lands, there’s little use for decay.Even so, as time passed they did have a worrisome tendency to lean a bit too close to favoring Morgoth (Melkor)–for someone already leaning over the edge, a good nudge is all it would have taken to send them down the cliff.Similar to Ossë, a maia whom was seduced by Morgoth but returned to the Valar, Sāweleuxs has some darkness in their spirit and tends to be a somewhat temperamental being–greed, spite, and pride are known traits of theirs, willful and stubborn. The writings of the legendarium are presented like a translation of a translation of the original, with a few more translations in between. Thus, whenever texts would contradict, Tolkien would simply cite differing translations.Likewise, that gives us a lot of room to wing it, too.For the sake of actually properly getting them into Middle Earth itself, they are written as one who eventually fell into Morgoth’s service before the First Age during the Years of the Lamps. This is, in truth, less to do with loyalty to Morgoth specifically and more a want of freedom and the ability to do as they please without serving another–be they valar or otherwise. And so they serve Morgoth and his cause, trading one valar for another, drawn to the power of one who may be able to make that freedom a reality. If Morgoth is able to control Arda, he can change the systems in place–if only he wishes it. Perhaps, like Sauron, they found themselves too willing to look past how Morgoth went against their wishes to keep their eyes on the end, rather than the means. But the fortress of Utumno is destroyed, and Morgoth is imprisoned in the Halls of Mandos. Rather than fleeing, however, Sāweleuxs opts to remain in Angband among the rest of Morgoth’s forces until his escape and return. With Sauron taking the helm, it’s likely they wouldn’t have gotten far in the attempt. However, after the War of Wrath, Angband is destroyed as well and this time Morgoth is thrown into the Void–and his forces are largely killed, with only a few scattered but alive. A balrog in Moria, Sauron in Mordor. It is now thatSāweleuxs opts to flee as well, but like the others they do not return to Valinor and instead disappear into Middle Earth. As Sauron gathers his power, they take no efforts to aid him. When he falls, they take no pains to find him.Without Morgoth, without Sauron, without the Istari and balrogs, there are none left able to challenge them, and so Sāweleuxs wanders aimlessly and does as they please.

Names

Elven: Úrintinwë (Quenya) or Tinuanorë (Sindarin); both translate to “sun spark”. Quenya is an older language among the elves, akin to one speaking Latin now. Sindarin, following that example, would be like the English developed out of the former. After their fall, they were given a new name by the Elves who grew increasingly familiar with matters of decay--Vanwalaurë in Quenya and translated to Gwannmall in Sindarin, both holding a meaning of vanishing light, particularly golden sunlight. Unlike some other characters, they don’t seem to have a marked preference for either--the names after the fall can be interpreted as an insult or a warning, but at least they’re not outright being called the abhorred.Westron: Sāweleuxs. A Mannish language and the lingua franca by the Third Age (the time period of the movies). It’s based on a sort of proto-Celtic/pseudo-Germanic model, so proto-Celtic was used to create a name meaning “sun light”.Easterling: Ŋḕrádàli comes from the Altaic languages, which is a family composed of Mongolian, Tungus, and Turkic. Lacking any notes from Tolkien, the Altaic family is used as a stand-in for Easterling languages--the Men allied with Sauron. It’s formed from “ŋḕrá” meaning “day/sun/light” and “dàli” meaning “to burn”.Valarian: Išātuz would be their original, Valarian name, though similarly left behind in Valinor--Valarian in general is described as being painful for other beings to hear. Think of sounds like nails on a chalkboard, sounds that would make one’s skin crawl and grimace and cover their ears--that’s Valarian to anyone who is not an ainur. Tolkien seemed to base what little is established of Valarian on Ancient Assyrian and Ancient Akkadian, and so this name comes from the Akkadian root “išātu” meaning “to set afire; fire beacon” with the common Valarian name-ending z.Modern: In the modern era, or at least a contemporary age, the name they go by is Sarafine--a name meaning "burning fire", specifically evolved from the Westeron Sāweleuxs. The name also relates to the seraphim, celestial beings found in religious texts.

Ainur

The ainur are, in effect, much like classical deities--initially they were similar to those found in Greek and Roman mythos, until Tolkien decided that was a little too heathenish and adjusted them to be more akin to Christian archangels later in life. Because I am a godless heathen, we’re going with the initial deity vibe. There are two “types” of ainur--the valar, and the maiar. The valar are more powerful beings, and are closest to the promise of classical god/goddess. The maiar, on the other hand, are similar but less powerful, and--save for a couple notable exceptions--serve the vala whose court they reside in.They were a maia of Yavanna, the quintessential mother earth goddess, and associated chiefly with autumn and the harvest and secondly that which signifies the season: fire and gold, sunlight, the slow exhale and decay of the land, the dying of the light. However, they eventually became a maia of Melkor (later called Morgoth). Unlike the other valar who are generally associated with specific gifts, Morgoth was the first of the valar and had a share of each of the gifts, and thus he’s more associated with power. And destruction, considering his tendency of fucking up All The Things, but y’know. Under him, their associations with stillness and decay and encroaching shadows grew more prominent.

Abilities

Immortality - The ainur came from beyond Arda, and so can’t be harmed by what lies within its boundaries, and similarly they do not need a body to be complete. They take physical form at will, and this form is described as being more like clothing rather than a true body. However, upon entering Arda, they became bound to it--so whether they will survive it’s end is questionable. This said, while they can’t properly be killed, they can be weakened--Sauron is a good example of this. He is not killed when his ring is destroyed, only so weakened he’s little more than a shadow gnawing at his own ankles and too weak to do any further harm to Arda. But, he is alive still. If their bodies are destroyed, they wander as a houseless spirit, weaker than before--at least until restored by their corresponding vala. While capable of re-creating bodies on their own, lost power is not regained.Shapeshifting - As noted, the ainur take physical forms at will, and these forms can be changed as easily as changing clothes. Likewise, when going into Middle Earth, they change their form freely--typically something either Elven or Mannish, depending upon need, but they’re just as liable to don the form of other creatures. The ainur are able to fly via taking the forms of birds and bats. How they appear, like their name, will be highly dependent upon the thread.Thought Transmission - All ainur similarly have the ability to not so much read minds as share thoughts--somewhat akin to having a conversation without audible words. That said, there are limitations: for example, they can only communicate with a mind that is open and willing. It’s a sort of telepathy, basically.Aura - The ainur have a sort of aura about them, be it for better or for worse. For example, Sauron’s aura is described as a “dreadful presence” capable of bending all but the strongest wills via the force of its malevolence. Their aura is still and stifling--the feeling of being trapped in damp soil and fallen leaves, of watching the light vanish from within your grave as you’re buried alive.Magic - Going from the above, the maiar are described as having the ability to manipulate elements and energies akin to the valar, just not on so great a scale. Via this, they were able to help shape the world. Life withers as they pass by, dense fog hanging in the air as green shifts into red and gold and crumbles into brown, bare branches left in their wake. Likewise, they’re given the abilities to perform curses, blessings, and so forth.

Kimetsu no Yaiba

Name: Matsuoka Sasakawa || Hisaya
Breath: Breath of Blaze
History: Sasakawa was once the eldest daughter of a moderately wealthy family, followed only a few short years later by a sister, close enough in age the two spent their childhood playing games with each other, Sasakawa protective of her quiet and shy sibling, and developing a reputation early on for having a bit too much personality to be entirely proper. And, initially, nothing in their life seemed truly unusual--taught how to dance and manage a household, expected to marry just as her sibling would after her. Her life became suitors and duties as the eldest daughter, until an attack by a demon left her without her sister and her own beauty marred by scarring. It was after this, that Sasakawa learns of a group of warriors who slay such creatures.
The eldest daughter of a wealthy enough family has no place, wielding a sword of all things.
Overcome with grief, and finding the ones called pillars willing to teach, Sasakawa simply left anyway.
It had always been said, she had too much of a temper. And she were still able to learn quickly, determined and persistent, training with a exuberant slayer that had created the Breath of Flames, until she herself had created a breath of her own--Breath of Blaze, branched from Flames. And she thought she was content with this, would be able to protect a family of her own just as she wasn’t able to protect her sister, able to save others from demons so they need not lose their family to the creatures.Until, one night, Sasakawa wasn’t able to win, wouldn’t be able to extend the battle to daylight against a demon with opalescent eyes and charming smile.A temper, improper woman, sore loser, knowing the gossip said of herself and yet thinking she above it, anger that simmered just beneath the surface. Wicked words digging at old wounds that still kept her up at night, too weak to truly make any difference, even with a sword would never have been able to protect her sibling, only shame brought to a family that wasn’t that great to begin with.Wouldn’t it be better, to be stronger? Wouldn’t it be better, to no longer be plagued by obligations and duties? To have the freedom to do as she wished, without listening to the jeers based on nothing but appearances, to no longer be judged simply for being a woman? Life is precious--isn't she supposed to treasure it instead of only enduring it?
Backed into a corner, given no choice, isn’t it better to live and have freedom?
Sasakawa, exhausted and defeated, willingly accepts the offer of Upper Two.The name Sasakawa is forgotten, now known as Hisaya--a demon that relied upon their demonic arts relating to flames just as much as they did their katana and sheath, using one to enhance the other, lingering within thick forests and obeying the whims and orders of that man.Perhaps it’s a bit ironic, new name bearing the kanji said to denote a body held upright by a tree, used for a coffin, and yet Hisaya yet again grew restless as the decades passed, dissatisfied and yet unable to understand their own feelings, the foreign desire to claw their way out of their own grave. They don’t recall their sister, but they recall the strange feeling of having lost something important. They still recall a feeling of loneliness they cannot place. When you’re already six feet under, which direction are you meant to dig?Can be played in both slayer and demon verses! Note as well: in writing, the Doma who turned them specifically is @uppertwo!Breath of Blaze:
First Form: Unwavering Flare - The user steadies and grounds themselves as they wait for their enemy to charge towards them. When the time is right, they sidestep and swing their katana from the direction of the enemy's blindspot, decapitating them with a concentrated slash.
Second Form: Unknowable Reignition - The user smashes their katana's sheath against the enemy from the side with great strength, then with their free hand perform an upward slash while the enemy is staggered.Third Form: Torrid Incineration - The user bounces off a vertical surface and pierces the enemy with their katana.Fourth Form: Conflagration Waltz - The user deflects and counters attacks through a combination of sword swings and footwork that look like a slow, rotating dance.Fifth Form: Incandescent Wolf's Advance - The user unleashes an onslaught of slashes as they switch the katana from hand to hand, gradually closing the distance between them and their enemy. The visual effect created by this technique takes on the form of a wolf.Sixth Form: Skin-Melting Flames - A 360-degree slash with so much force behind it that it slices other objects and enemies that are at a distance. Against weak demons, it's said to be able to cleave through three of them in a row.Seventh Form: Smoldering Comet - A downward thrust performed while the user is in mid-air, using the force of gravity for additional strength.Eighth Form: Azure Perdition - The fastest technique in the Breath of Blaze. The user draws their katana from its sheath at high speed to strike the enemy once, then spin in place as they place it back in its sheath to strike a second time. This form can be repeated several times when combined with the Fourth Form: Conflagration Waltz.Demonic Art:
Pyrokinesis
They can create fire and flames from their flesh and blood: normally these flames generate from their own person, at any part of their body they wish, but if their blood is spilled in a battle (as an example), or strands of hair were cut and left laying, the flames can come from these parts of themselves as well. They can manipulate these flames too, both in feats such as allowing an ember to dance between their fingers to controlling the size and temperature of any flame--including ones they didn't create themselves, but simply took control of. If their fires themselves don't fell the enemy, the smoke inhalation often does the trick, blinding them and filling their lungs until the flames catch up.They do have some fine tuning of this manipulation--ranging from something as small as playing with sparks, to creating walls or sending flames chasing down enemies that attempt to run. They can also pull the flames back, keeping them from burning what they don't intend to burn. Likewise, Hisaya is immune to fires and flames--for the most part. While they can regenerate as any demon, if their regeneration were overwhelmed enough it would be possible for them to be burned. Likewise, emotional outbursts can make their flames harder to control, or result in them flaring out. Though their flames are strong enough that they may not be extinguished so easily by water or ice, sufficiently powerful/cold enough frost (such as Doma's cyrokinesis) can still put out their fires as well.If in close combat, they may still use their katana and its sheath, augmented by their flames to block and counter blows. Generally, they prefer relying upon their demonic art.

MAKIAMI TSUGIKUNI

* iconless!
friend request only!

Appearance

standing at average height, he holds a muscular build due to his status and training as a samurai lord, hair similarly tied back in a form of top knot, though his hair remains loose towards the ends rather than completely tied down. it’s dark in color, similar to eldest son, and his features are sharp–much like his personality, his appearance is often read as intimidating and enough to make others wary to approach. on the whole, to the younger’s displeasure, he bears resemblance to eldest son, though age and scowl have caused the appearance of lines upon his face.

Personality

It were said, that when youngest son vanished in the night, Makiami sought for him. It were said, that when wife passed of illness he hadn’t been aware of beforehand, he mourned the loss. Both things would have been shocking to those who knew him beforehand.Personality best described as strict and uncaring towards his family, Makiami were classic case of one who sought prosperity of clan and title over the family actually beneath his thumb, and instead they often faced a harsh temper and the demands of a man who were more accustomed to commanding soldiers than actually tending to a child.Of course, he thought he were behaving in their best interests, for the sake of the Tsugikuni. He wished to kill youngest son, merely because of the potential risk of a succession crisis, and the mark he bore. He regularly struck elder child as means to attempt forcing him to behave in ways Makiami believed best. He found disobedience similarly worthy of punishment. Own wife were left so overlooked he never became aware of how her body weakened until sudden death. The road to hell is paved with good intentions and mislaid priorities.

tanjiro kamado

icon raws from @dresspheres
icon border from @cerberuscomms

Appearance

At only passing glance, Tanjiro doesn't seem too unusual in his appearance, save the mark upon his forehead: once a scar from boiling water turned into a proper slayer mark. His eyes and hair both bear hues of red, and skin is sun-kissed.But for a boy his age, his body is far too muscular and his hands far too calloused.Though there are generations between them, he is a descendant of Yoriichi Tsugikuni, and thus there remains a stark resemblance between the two.

Personality

At the forefront, Tanjiro is kind. He holds compassion and empathy that seems to know no bounds, and a willingness to both aid and be aided by others. It seems near everyone he meets becomes someone he treasures in some way, however fleeting--he is never one to withhold a kind word or helpful gesture.Inversely, rudeness of brashness can be quick to annoy him--impoliteness never fails to frustrate him, despite his best attempts to keep said displeasure off his face. Sometimes, certain people find just the right nerves. However, despite his wells of patience and sympathy, a quiet rage seethes and threatens to escape the cracks: seeing so many innocent people harmed, mindlessly killed by demons, creates a fury that drives him forward in this war against demons--a pendulum between screaming anger and cold wrath.Still, for those demons who regret their actions, he has shown a tendency still to pray for them as they fade away--brought about most by his sister.

SAKUYAHIME TSUGIKUNI

Appearance

As far as appearances go, hers is mostly average...mostly.While not particularly tall, her stature isn't very short compared to most others--while notably shorter than her unusually tall ex-spouse, most characters would find her roughly eye level. Likewise, her figure is very modest, hidden beneath the layers of kimono befitting her rank as head of her clan.Hair is a cool-toned black, long and cut into a traditional hime style whilst it is her eyes that is the most distinguishing feature to Sakuyahime: her right eye is a dark shade, but the left is a pale teal reminiscent of her descendant.

Personality

She were thought by own clan to be little more than the pawn to be sold off, used to simply heighten the standing of the Hisayasu. It were a fate she saw no way of escaping, and so Sakuyahime quietly resigned herself to this fate. She would never have guessed how her marriage would actually go, but that isn't to say she is upset by it: her spouse's divorce left her with the clan she married into at her call, and a freedom she never tasted before. There's an odd innocence in her still, too sheltered to be very worldly, but this likewise generates curiosity within her and a strong desire to learn.Ingrained to be polite, whilst capable of defending her estate and trained in the use of naginata, Sakuyahime isn't much of a fighter herself and prefers diplomacy whenever she is able. This, likewise, is something she attempts to instill in her children as they grow: defend if you must, but listen first. In many ways, she is a flower still blooming and doing the best she can.

Verses

MAIN VERSEThe arranged ex-wife of Michikatsu, she is now given her former spouse's clan--and suddenly finding herself as the head of the Tsugikuni, a role she were never trained for in the ways her ex was, Sakuyahime tries to fill a role she never expected to wield and experience a freedom she never thought she'd have.

lilith sahl

characterization is divided between manga/novels/canon rather than the anime, along with a healthy dose of headcanon to fill in gaps

Appearance

red hair nearly as long as she is tall, with brown skin and golden eyes. Lilith can be an imposing figure should she choose to do so, but most often such things are of no concern to her. her figure is slim though not slender--there is still strength in her body, for she were created to be perfect, to survive upon Mars. after fusing with the Crusnik, there is something uncanny about her, something not quite right, something always distant.her preferred clothing are typical garments of India--when not in uniform upon Mars, she commonly wears sari in various styles, along with gold jewelry and makeup that include bindi and henna. returned to earth and the uniform is no longer needed. it is after she begins aiding humans, that she gains her rosary.due to her crusnik form never making an appearance in the novels and thus not the manga nor anime either, no one really knows just what her crusnik form looked like. as a result, i'm going to opt for six blue feathered wings as are seen in the canon + referenced in recent manga art books!thus, when her nanomachines are active, she gains those six blue wings, as well as red eyes and cobalt lips--weapon forged from her blood takes the form of a hengdang. her powers as a crusnik focus on mass, particularly in increasing the mass of herself or objects she touches: mass increased exponentially results in what's effectively a black hole for the one titled the black saint.

Personality

created to head the medical department of the red mars project, Lilith is well remembered for her kindness and compassion, her desire to aid and protect all she meets--and her insistence on seeing what good remains in others, irregardless of what anyone else may say.including Abel himself.perhaps she could be called stubborn in a way, a persistence that enabled her to do all she believed to be for the best without growing tired--but Lilith were known for her perception as well. it were not merely baseless faith in Abel, but the knowledge that good remained within him even as he became Contra Mundi, even as she stood against the Knightlord siblings.indeed, Lilith were exceedingly clever--herself the driving force to aid humanity against the "returners", even stopping the army of the siblings outside of Paris with herself the strategist enabling the feat.and yet, despite it all, there is something so innocent within her: if only Seth had held out her hand, Lilith too would have reached out to the youngest of them all with the same love of mother or elder sister she always possessed towards her. innocence that led her to meet Cain alone upon the Ark, not realizing until too late that it would be the last gamble.

Verses

MAIN VERSEdue to her death long, long before the series' beginning, there's less a single main verse and more a "I'll fit her into anywhere I'm able to" to enable writing Lilith--and crossovers/AU's are welcome!KNY VERSEinitially a doctor who sought to ease the suffering of all those she encountered, travelling to rural areas that may not otherwise see a doctor at all, to people with the greatest need. she and three siblings, all a little adopted family together.until the eldest falls and becomes a demon, beginning a trail of carnage. this event lead them to learning of the corps as slayers are sent to handle the new powerful demon only to vanish.but the remaining siblings join the corps, carrying with her her knowledge of medicines and so she quickly finds a new home in the butterfly mansion, tending to the returning wounded when she isn't on a mission herself. the other two, abel and seth, take on roles of slayers in their own rights, often away on missions with their crows.lilith, too, wields flower breathing: initially learned from kanae, in the brief period before her death.but none have lost sight of their end goal: freeing cain from demonhood.

Yūma

Biography

note that this biography goes into main verse, and thus is the canon-divergent twin au with @uppertwo!born the twin of dōma, he is yūma--though he isn't certain which of them is truly the elder. he doesn't especially care, joking at different times that he's the elder, and then that dōma is: what does it matter? they are two halves holding the rank of upper two, equal in power and cleverness. indeed, looking at them and one may even think they are two halves of one single rainbow: where yūma carries cool tones in his eyes, dōma carries warm tones; where dōma possesses cool tones in his skin, yūma possesses warm ones. beyond this, physically, they both look very alike and yet obviously different, the warped reflections in a pane of ice of each other.after all, for much of their lives, the other is all they could rely upon. faced with cruelty of parents and trauma of followers, yūma can remember his human life perfectly well and yet cannot recall truly feeling like a person of his own--he instead recalls feeling more like a prop, a puppet. the only gentleness were from his twin and so is it any wonder that when sibling becomes demon, yūma decides to follow the only person he feels he has truly known? and he rises through the ranks, content in his position alongside dōma for he has never resided anywhere else but the place at twin's side.when dōma begins to grow attached to kokushibō, yūma doesn't truly understand but recalls a woman with green eyes and an innocent expression. when dōma begins to feel once more, however little it may initially be, yūma doesn't yet know how to recognize nor truly feel such petty things as jealousy, but if it is to protect his twin's happiness...continuing to follow dōma's footsteps doesn't seem half bad.

Personality

over a century in the past, yūma was born the second child, younger twin of dōma--the siblings so alike and yet so clearly different. two halves of single rainbow, both believed to be special, to hear the gods, to give blessings to all who ask within the cult.yūma recalls finding his parents and the cult both particularly dumb.indeed, in many ways, twin were the only one who held true worth to yūma for he were the only one who understood him, who had enough cleverness to at least see him as a person instead of some god's messenger. and yet in a way it's annoying, for dōma is the only one yūma can never truly hide anything from. an odd push and pull that yūma himself is certain is some odd mix of selfishness and masochism, to easily accept all abrasiveness from his twin in innate belief it's deserved and yet refusing to simply let go of what is familiar. he remains one of two holy twins, seen as messengers of gods by the cult.he doesn't really mind or care that the god has become kokushibō--at least she keeps things interesting too!

Verses

MAIN VERSEthe main verse in which he is yūma, twin to dōma and other half of upper two just as siblings are upper six. likewise, he has become brother-in-law to twin's spouse and uncle to their daughters. a question of loyalty, with such an obvious answer.

Cain Knightlord

* manga based!

Appearance

notably tall, with perfectly porcelain skin and a face framed by hair so pale blond it could pass for nearly silvery, and eyes of a glacial blue--cain makes for a striking presence in any space he's in if his personality doesn't break the impression firstafter all, he were meant to be perfect: the second oldest of the humans created for Mars, the first of the Knightlord siblings and commander of the Red Mars Project. he were created to lead, to endure, to guide, and so his body appears both beautifully perfect like ancient statue carved from marble with the lithe muscular physique to matchon the surface, anywayhidden beneath clothing, there remains a gaping chasm through what used to be his abdomin, organs completely missing. indeed, he no longer possesses any organ, nor bone, nor sinew: nothing more than a black, tar-like mass in mockery of what he used to be, a host to the Crusnik nanomachines like an anthill--difficult to tell just where Cain ends and Crusnik 01 begins, if there is any divide at all

Personality

in any circumstance, Cain generally is the most striking presence by the force of his personality alone: loud and innocent, completely childish and drawn by whims like a leaf in the breeze. he needs nothing, and thus he wants everything--and innocence is like a blade, carving away everything he desires for himself without thinking twiceis it that he doesn't care, or that he simply can't comprehend the consequences of his actions, no matter how mindlessly brutal? a question impossible to answerindeed, it's quite the conundrum: Cain were killed in that accident on Mars. did he come back, or are the nanomachines within simply displaying a mockery of who their host once were, warped and mangled into what he has become?like a child, he only seeks what interests, and his only immediate goal to repair his fractured genetic makeup lest his body continue to fall apartafterwards? he would no longer need the orden to carry out the Crusnik's desire for destruction, but Cain himself hasn't put thought into that either

Verses

MAINdue to his series being notably old and unfinished, like Lilith, Cain has less a proper main verse and more a catch-all to fit him into any plot necessary--thus likewise crossovers and au's are welcome!KNYinitially he were the eldest of three siblings, similar in age to their adopted sibling lilith--four children looking out for each other and trying to make ends meet. until one night, he is attacked by a demon--a demon that decides to turn him instead of simply killing or devouring himand from then on, he begins a path of carnage and rising within the ranks: it isn't that he especially cares for ranks or powers, but demonhood has warped his mind and thus he follows whims like a child playing a grand gameupon gyokko's death, he joins the upper moons as the fifth: a demon whose art hinges on telekinesis, manipulating people and objects around himself but usually employed as shockwaves to bulldoze anything in his pathand he is present in the infinity fortress, first battling against lilith until he kills and devours her--not realizing the poison made to weaken him until too late, when abel and seth appear to finish the job

Uta Tsugikuni

Appearance

average height, with black hair falling straight and reaching her waist--uta's appearance is generally unassuming on the whole, with her eyes her most distinguishing feature: wide and as black as obsidian, with the lines of endless smiles subtly found at the corners.clothing is simple kimono of yellow with green and pink patterns, along with a scarf wrapped around the crown of her head. she's much more accustomed to work and activity, and so her skin has the tan of someone in the sun and can be surprisingly strong despite her size

Personality

the first things people tend to notice about her is her smile. the second is how much she speaksuta is energetic and extroverted, who always seems to only find even more friends--or at least people willing to listen for a while. she doesn't even mind if they don't meet her energy, for she'll carry on still to fill the silenceshe once had a large family before illness stole them all away, and it were in the depths of loneliness and despair that she grew quiet. now, complete silence can still cause that pang of lonesomebut she is happy, her very nature practically begs for it--and in her endless empathy, she longs to ensure no other feels the same ache in her heart as herself

Verses

due to her death long before the series, her main verse is instead a more catch-all verse to make writing with her easier!

Kotoha Hashibara

Appearance

dark hair tied into a loose bun and emerald green eyes--her son has a striking resemblance to her, though kotoha remains much softer in her looks. she isn't one to glare or frown, most often seen with a smile--nearly a touch shy

Personality

like the flower taken from harsh cold to comforting warmth, she in many ways is still trying to find her way: there is an innocent naivety to her, in the ways of the world. she often feels shy or out of place in unfamiliar situations of which there are many, but kotoha's true nature is of a kind and nurturing young womanshe feels much appreciation towards anyone who aids her, and likewise has a great deal of loyalty to dōma for saving her and her child, and to kokushibō for tending to herbut beneath that innocence, she truly is quite sharp: a double-edged blade she hadn't enough time to wield

Verses

MAIN
set during the period in which she were alive and well, oblivious to the truth of the temple

Koyuki

Appearance

due to long years of illness, her figure is still quite thin and skin pale, but finally there is a healthy flush previously rarely seen, as opposed to frequent fevers. a flush that compliments the pink of her eyes, donning flowers. dark hair is always seen tied up into a bun, decorated with hair pins and kushishe is always seen wearing proper kimono in soft tones of pinks and blues, occasionally highlighted with yellow

Personality

innately she is quite kind and gentle, with a tendency of thinking of others and a subtle habit of being observant--thus she is often very understanding of others and their feelings as well, such as innately knowing the true reason her mother perished.she has a notable tendency towards being sensitive as well, and prone to tears whenever in an emotional situation...or merely a conversation that reminds her once more of hopethanks to hakuji, hope is something she clings to--even moreso after believing it out of her grasp for so long

Verses

MAIN
like uta, due to her death long before the series, her main verse depends upon context/plots to become whatever fits best!

giyū tomioka

Appearance

fairly tall and lean muscle, with choppy black hair tied back into a low ponytail and framing deep ocean blue eyes--but it is giyū's expression that often makes the first impression: what to him is merely a neutral expression without deeper meaning, others may view as arrogant--much to his confusion

Personality

much like the halves of his haori, there seems to be two contrasting sides to giyū: a stoic and stern man who always seem distant and apart from others, even his fellow hashira, against someone remarkably kind yet deeply brokenmost often he keeps to himself: quiet and apart from others, offering few words and never speaking of his deeper thoughts nor his inner feelings, not from a place of secrecy but simply not seeing a point nor purpose in doing socapable of sarcasm and seeming harsh in his own sense of duty, yet he is clever: the first to act, the first to command, yet often failing to be perfectly understood in his clumsy approach to othersyet inferiority dampens his heart, harshly viewing himself as merely a fraud, someone unworthy to stand with the rest: not of arrogance, but of shamestill, despite it all, to those he has grown close to he is fiercely loyal, however select few they are

Nakime

Appearance

at first glance, she may seem quite unassuming--a biwa player in monochrome kimono, long black hair left loose and hanging over her face, the only truly notable details being her claws and skin with such a pallor it too is nearly greyedup until one sees her facebeyond the scarred, grayer skin of her forehead, nakime only possesses one singular pink eye dominating the center of her face: she is not simply missing an eye. she is cyclops, possessing one

Personality

her most notable trait is her tendency to be nearly docile--nakime remains in her castle, with no notable interest in violence nor bloodshed. likewise, she shows no joy or pleasure in battles, all but ignored as the castle moves under her command: she will sooner let a slayer fall into the abyss than raise a finger of her ownrespecting the hierarchy, she will respond if those out-ranking her speak to her...merely enough to answer them, and nothing more. no interest in comradery, any below her are met with silencebut loyalty and usefulness remain, and thus she remains bound to her castle like the roots of a tree embed themselves into the earth

Jin'ichiro rengoku

the rengoku ancestor of the sengoku era!
icons used are of shinjurō; raws were provided by @rabbitprose

Appearance

like all those descended from him, jin'ichirō sports flame-like hair and thick brows, along with himself possessing a tanned complexion and a body scarred by encounters with demons over his time as a slayer--especially in the period before the creation of breaths

Personality

once upon a time, there were two branches of the rengoku family: a main branch, holy and great with its blue flame; and a side branch, powerful and true with its red flame. it had been such for generations, yet jin'ichirō knows the tale wellafter all, he is the head of that side branch in his timecompassionate with a strong sense of justice and of protecting others, jin'ichirō were the one who first found yoriichi and helped him bury his late wife. he stayed steadfast next to the moon when she joined the ranks, warming her chill. alongside them, he too sought to better himself with the creation of flame breathing--harnessing the sun to suit his own abilitieshowever, the moon fell from the sky and the sun blackened to ashand once again, jin'ichirō were the only one who viewed either as the humans they truly were, never something divineever duty-bound, he wrote of it all in a journal that would be passed down for generations, and a collection of letters shared between himself and yoriichito meet him is to meet a calm flame, the campfire others gather around for warmth, who will warm those who seek him out--but there is something wavering in his very foundationif one were to compare a descendant to jin'ichiro, it is senjuro that is most like him

Verses

MAIN VERSEdue to his time being long before the main series, his main verse functions as a catch all to enable writing him

tamayo

Appearance

noted to be beautiful, she appears to be an entirely proper young woman with nothing more especially notable, but this is exactly what she wishes for. tamayo isn't one to stand out within a crowd, preferring to instead appear completely and utterly human: dark brown hair in a sensible bun, eyes of violet with slitted pupils hidden, and truly nothing to denote her status as a demon

Personality

for most who meet her, the most notable traits are her gentleness and willingness to help others, even now still seeking to better herself as a doctor to aid those who need it. she is endlessly patient and extremely knowledgeable, second only to muzan himself in age with such a long live devoted to study--particularly of demons.but beneath all her grace and poise lies a woman vicious in her need to end muzan, no matter the cost. perhaps his mocking that this were her original personality as a demon before emotions were regained held some grain of truth within--but she is a demon that has rejected every status of being one, in favor of humanity

kanae kocho

Appearance

much like her sister, kanae has a very slim build--however, she is notably taller in comparison. her dark hair reaches her waist and is typically left loose, with only her pair of butterfly pins to adorn it. her face is framed by bangs, and skin is noted to be pale--in contrast to the lipstick she wearskanae's eyes are a pale violet and nearly glittering like dew upon a flower's petals

Personality

most first impressions of kanae are either of gentleness or of good-nature: a smile is commonly seen upon her features, and she laughs freely--never seeming to allow herself to grow stressed in contrast to her sistershe is also noted for her compassion, even for demons: a desire to someday, somehow be able to live alongside them despite the suffering she has seen, not from a place of innocence nor naivety but in recognition of most demons being humans who suffered greatlystill, only just beneath her gentle nature, she will be stern when necessary: she possesses determination and will, a sense of duty in her standing as an hashirabut above all, she loves her sisters
